Trojanowski, Tadeusz (1958- )
Free oscillation na trio stroikowe (7:00) 1988 Publisher: not published
I. Scherzando
II. Allegretto
III. con dolore
Instrumentation: oboe, clarinet, bassoon
This work received third prize at the Warsaw Composer’s Competition in 1988. The most striking features of this composition are the atonal idiom, varied rhythm and time signature content. The sustained dissonant sounds characterize the slower sections. The composer employs the interval of a second between two voices in every measure of movement I, and explores motivic inversion and unison playing in movement II. Movement III combines the musical ideas found in the previous movements, and explores rhythmical shifting between the voices and cross rhythms between the bar lines.
The work demands rhythmical accuracy and dynamic flexibility. There are a few instances in the second movement where there are sixteenth note runs with large leaps and awkward voicing. It is especially difficult for the oboe.
